BJP is a Party with Difference – Analysis of an “Aam Aadmi”
by Sudipto Das
I’m now travelling across Uttarakhand on a vacation. I wanted to be away from computers and emails for the entire duration of fourteen days. But then I’ve experienced something so interesting yesterday on my way from Delhi to Naukuchiatal, a place near Nainital in Uttarakhand, that I couldn’t resist sharing this with the readers of “Friends of BJP”.
Just after leaving Delhi on a hired car, I started talking to our driver for the entire trip. Each vacation that I take is something like a realization and learning experience for me. I always want to know more about the local culture, cuisine and the sentiments and emotions of the people. Apart from seeing the new places I always feel enlightened to mix with the people around me. Our driver, Prakash, hailing from Himachal, seemed to be a very well informed and aware person. I can’t remember how exactly the discussions turned towards politics, but within the first hundred kilometres from Delhi we’re already discussing about Mayawati - might be because we’re travelling through UP. I asked him whether he likes Mayawati. Without giving a direct answer, he started saying that things seem to have deteriorated under Mayamati - cases of hooliganism (goondagarti) seems to have increased substantially, development seems to have ceased and many more things. But then he also mentioned that she does have a fair chance to become the next Prime Minister. That was quite a contradictory statement, provided the fact that he feels Mayamati hasn’t improved anything in UP. But then his explanation was an eye opener for me. It was quite surprising to have come from a driver. Had this kind of analysis come from Prannoy Roy or Barkha Dutt I won’t have been surprised. But coming from a driver, whom we might categorize as an ‘Aam Aadmi’ was indeed very interesting.
His analysis was very simple. Mayamati has understood the psyche of the people. She knows very well that illiterate people in UP won’t appreciate the long term impact of making roads, setting up industries or colleges. For a really poor villager all these things don’t have any meaning as long as they see a direct impact of these in their lives. On the contrary if a politician does a petty thing like getting a really low paying job even for one villager or help someone (even through illegally means) in constructing his house or getting a water line for someone, even that becomes more important than making roads and setting up of industries which can create employment for so many people. Out of 1000 people even if a single person is benefitted he can influence the remaining 999 people by arousing a false hope that the same politician might do the same for themselves. That’s exactly what keeps Mayawati winning - by giving a false sense of security and hope. I was already quite amazed with this level of analysis. But what came next from him just bowled me off. He kept on saying, “Just see how much work BJP does. Where ever they go they make roads, setup so many industries and most importantly they setup educational institutions. But common people in the villages never see the long term impact of this”. That’s what he feels is the main reason why in spite of doing so much development BJP still fails to win elections. It should be noted that his scope of knowledge is limited to Delhi, UP, Haryana, Punjab and, to some extent, Rajasthan.
We’d started from Delhi at around 11:30am and by 4:30pm we’d covered the entire stretch of route through UP and entered into Uttarakhand, a BJP ruled state. The first place was Udham Singh Nagar - the erstwhile Rudranagar which has been rechristened recently. The industrial town of Pantnagar is also nearby. Immediately after entering into Uttarakhand the condition of the roads improved. It was just a coincidence that, due to the proximity to Pantnagar, there were a number of industries all around us alongside the road. But our driver pointed to all those factories and told me, “That’s what BJP does where ever they go”.
Well, I don’t want to elaborate anything more. I think I’m able to give the message that I wanted to give - well, not my message but the message from our driver, an ‘Aam Aadmi’.
He would be with me for the next 12 days and I hope to learn more from him.

I agree 100% with the very knowledgeable driver you had ..BJP has to reach the grass root level …
same way most feel, but don’t accept
Hi once again,
Dont really know why BJP is losing grip of the plot.It certainly as to up its ante ,has to vociferously speak against the Congress and also should have some kind of media backing which it totally and sadly lacks today.
Do something before its too late.
All said and done put the Uttar Pradesh BJP unit in order. It has led to party’s doom on quite few occassions now.
THe cadres need to be motivated and Sangh parivar needs to be roped in.Get to each village, each nook and corner and arouse the feeling in one’s heart again as you did earlier.
You have best leaders why do you get so bogged down meekly to way the Congress or other opponents level stupid things at you.Come out so strongly as you have such great orators.
Use these key people to make each and every soundbyte you give, let it hit your opponents so hard and let it touch the hearts of every Indian.
You surely seem to act now.
I sure will hope and pray for your victory.
You really deserve every right to rule this country.
Thanks and Regards
Jaiwanth
You should post the videos of recent videos of “Friends of BJP” events as soon as possible. Where is Arun Jaitley’s Lucknow event video?
Credit for the wonderful roads in Uttarakhand has to go to CM Khanduri, who as Union Surface Transport Minister during the Vajpayee-era has overseen the Golden Quadrilateral Project… It is a unfortunate that this project has floundered under the current regime…
But I do believe that development does work at the hustings. The BJP govts in Gujarat & MP are examples of states that have concentrated on industry & roads respectively and been re-elected… UP is a different case I suppose…
Election Manifesto for Hindu Voters! - 1
Cast your vote for a candidate who is ethical and who will look after Hindu interests!
Dear Hindu Brothers and Sisters,
The politicians, who we Bharatiyas so confidently handed over the reigns of our country to after Independence, have made it worthless. We have experienced extreme deterioration of our country over the last 61 years, even though political parties of all hues were given chance to rule.
The Nation has deteriorated because of Adharmi (unright-eous) politicians!: During ancient times people used to be happy, fearless and prosperous because the Hindu Kings then followed their duty and Dharma. The politicians and rulers today are unrighteous and misuse power for their own interests. This has led to deterioration of Bharat at all levels. The people are overwhelmed with poverty, unemployment, corruption, crime and misconduct.
The ’secular’ rulers themselves are responsible for the pathetic state of Dharma!: Activities against the Hindu Dharma and appeasement of Muslims & Christians has become a permanent feature of the ’secular’ politicians. Therefore, in a Hindu majority Bharat the very faith of Hindus on Dharma was hurt through various media of denigration of Hindu Deities, killing of Hindu leaders, anti-Hindu laws etc. Eighty-five crore Hindus who are not united on the lines of Dharma, saw harm being caused to their Dharma; while non-Hindus were united and therefore, were appeased by the politicians for their votes. To arrest the present pitiable condition of the Nation and Dharma, it is essential to elect candidates who are patriotic, followers of Dharma, care for the people, have a warrior attitude, are morally strong and have a sacrificing nature. For that it is essential that the Dharma Shakti of Hindus manifests through the medium of the ballot and that is our collective responsibility. Therefore, seriously think who will you give your invaluable vote to!
Do not vote for such candidates!
1. Corrupt, criminal, uneducated and those who hop from party to party
2. Those who offer drinks, parties, money, clothes, picnics and luxury items in exchange for votes
3. Those who play caste-politics by encouraging the reservation culture and thus divide the society
4. Parties who appoint defeated candidates to the posts of Governors or Chief of some Corporation etc.
5. Those who have amassed unlimited wealth after being elected, kept crores in Swiss / other banks, have hidden their black money and have evaded taxes
6. Those who disrupt the working of Parliamentary or Legislative sessions and thus cause loss of public money
7. Those who spend public money on advertisements, when there is a debt of crores of rupees on the Nation and when 30% of our population lives below the poverty line
8. Those who spread such denigrating history - ‘Sri Ram is a myth’, ‘Lokmanya Tilak, Savarkar, Bhagat Singh were terrorists’ and ‘Shivaji Maharaj was wicked and deceitful’
9. Those who pretend to be Hindutvavadis, after sensing the oncoming wave of Hindutva
10. Those involved in preparing anti-Hindu laws and those who hate Hindu Dharma, Deities, Hindu Holy texts and Sanskrut language
11. Those who distribute the donations of Hindu devotees to Churches, Mosques, Christian Schools, after taking over the temples under Government management
12. Those who participate in programmes of Muslims and Christians, but do not participate in Hindu agitations for the defense of Dharma and ignore undesirable practices taking place during festivals in their own constituency
13. Those who out of their fanatic mentality, give tickets to Muslims and never lose a single opportunity to appease them
14. Those who provide reservations to minorities in jobs, educational field, give subsidy of crores of rupees for Haj pilgrimage and donate thousands of acres of land for building Mosques and Cemeteries
15. Those who try to destroy the places of Hindu cultural heritage - Ram Setu, Bham hill (where Saint Tukaram did penance) and those who do not allot permanent land for the Amarnath pilgrims
16. Those who never register a simple protest even when Hindu leaders are murdered, or when Muslims instigate riots, when vandalism of Hindu Deities Idols takes place or when the Hindu-hater MF Husain paints nude paintings of Bharatmata and Hindu Deities
17. Those who have neglected the rehabilitation of four and a half crore Kashmiri Hindus, who due to Muslim atrocities had to leave their lands, and thus have subjected them to a miserable life in refugee camps
18. Those who arrest a Dharmaguru of Hindus and torture Him, but do not dare to touch Imam Bukhari (who has many times given Nation-dividing incendiary speeches and also has many criminal cases against him)
19. Those who have allowed the infiltration of Bangladeshi Muslims and also have granted them Bharatiya nationality
20. Those who have delayed execution of the death sentence to terrorist Mohammad Afzal and those who do not intend to find a permanent solution to the menace of terrorism
(Hindus should remember that their vote is important for pulling the ’secular’ politicians down and establishing a rule based on Dharma!
‘Who to vote for’ is taught to Muslims in Mosques and to Christians in the Churches. What is wrong then, to tell Hindus that they should vote only for a candidate who is interested in Hindu welfare? - Editor)
Remember this too!
1. If no candidate in your constituency is eligible as above, then boycott the election! Besides, if more than 50% of the voters in a constituency are boycotting the elections, then send a letter to the President to pass a law for such candidates to be declared ineligible and elections be held again!
2. Compel the rulers to pass a law whereby the voters in a constituency can call back an elected candidate, if his work for public welfare is unsatisfactory!
3. Let the candidates know beforehand that public can take tough action against them if they fail to act according to their promises! (To be Continued)

I was watching an interview with the very popular President of Brazil recently, who has risen to this rank from a Factory floor worker.
What they have done in Brazil is challenged expert economic opinion that economic development must mean increasing productivity first and worrying later about distributive justice through trickle down or whatever.
What they have done in Brazil is linked development and productivity to distributive justice, so that, for example, infrastructure today does not mean possible benefits for the local population some time down the road. What it means is jobs today. Industrial development does not mean putting farmers out of business but locating Industry so that it augments farming.
It is possible to develop and communicate a message targeted at rural and small town electorate that contrasts the crumbs of patronization like a below subsistence job for 100 days or an illegal electricity connection to real access to resources, opportunity and choices for advancement. If communicated correctly, people understand. The key is not to make assumptions about intelligence and ability to comprehend based on English speaking abilities or formal education.
I do not know if one can make judgments from watching TV, but it seems to be that BJP is taking a beating because they have not figured out a way to counter effectively to communicate and get out the message.
My set of questions to all loyalists of BJP:
1) What steps BJP took to unearth/recover all the stashed cash at Swiss banks during their regime
2) What steps BJP took to ensure that illegal immegrants from Bangladesh dont gain unauthorized access?
3) What steps BJP took to bring muslims into the mainstream (without appeasing them)?
4) What steps BJP took to put an end to Haj subsidies during their rule which lasted about 6 years?
5) What steps BJP took to scrap reservation, that we all keep harping?
6) What steps BJP took to prevent criminalisation of politics? BJP has some of the leading criminals, who have made this nation proud.
7) What stepd BJP took to arrest Imam Bukhari, when he made provocative speeches?
I welcome responses from esteemed friends of BJP to attempt answering these simple, basic questions. I am sure, while responding, you will realize that BJP is no different from any other party, and that they are all the same.
So, lets not fool ourselves by saying that BJP is more development oriented.
In the end, you end up voting BJP as you are an educated upper middle class Hindu, while I end up voting a non-BJP party as I am a muslim.
I am hoping for an honest and dignified debate here. I seriously believe that we can do it without vitiating the atmosphere.
Thanks
