What Next for the BJP? (Part 4)
by Rajesh Jain and Amit Malviya
Leadership: Decisive and Dynamic
The BJP and RSS have to first stop living in denial. There needs to be an acceptance that there is a deep set of problems that need fixing. This election was not one where the BJP “lost just 20-odd seats.” It has to be seen from the point that the victor got 52% more votes and 78% more seats than the BJP. The BJP’s national vote aggregate is the lowest since 1991; its ‘market share’ is falling in a growing market (of voters).
One has to get to the core to start the revival process - and that core starts with Leadership. It always has. BJP’s votebank isn’t the transactional kind (the one that votes because of some immediate financial gain), it is the aspirational kind. India is a country where, for the most part, Congress has the default vote. For the BJP to win, it needs to do more. Its voters need to be inspired. It needs to be led.
Before anything else, BJP needs to get a New Leader. A leader who is given charge of the party for the next 5 years with a free hand. A leader who can rebuild the party. This leader may or may not be the prime ministerial candidate in 2014 - that bridge can be crossed later. The first goal is to get the internal house in order and win back the trust and confidence of people, before one starts making dreams of winning the 2014 elections. That will happen if the former happens.
What are the attributes of this New Leader?
- Achievement is his (her) hallmark, and not Surname/Dynasty.
- Age - in the 40s or 50s. Because BJP will have to fight an election in 2014 against a 43-year-old, because more than half of India is less than 35, and because over half of India will be urban and can be reasoned or emotionally swung.
- Moderate in stance; Right of centre thinking
- Caste / Religion doesn’t matter
- Excellent Oratorial (and writing) skills - in English and Hindi (at the minimum)
- A good listener
- One who can take critical feedback directly and improve
- Maintains self-control
- A life story that can enthrall; someone who has risen from an ordinary background and come up the hard way in life
- Someone Middle India can connect to
- One who can make tough decisions
- One who can inspire; “infectious enthusiasm” is the need of the hour
- One who has tremendous Learnability - because the past is no guide to the future
- One who can think out-of-the-box - and has shown an ability to do this in the past
- One who is willing to devote the next 10+ years to a single cause - BJP and India
- One who is a Team player - and willing to get in better people than himself
Tomorrow: Leadership (continued)

Below please find my totally unrelated response.
I have been asking BJP leaders to show restraint when facing media - actually I was of the opinion that most of them should just SHUT UP in public.
For a while I thought mine and others who were of the same opion - so our pleas were falling on the deaf ears, but I guess not!

V. Naidu should be the spoke-person on the national level. Please follow the link below - He is a real statesman!

Rahul Gandhi fits the bill
Well, Siva is obviously not listening, because we said that this leader cannot be a dynast! Lets all start calling Rahul Gandhi a dynast from now, as even though he is attempting o do a few good things for te congress party (like democratizing the Youth Congress), he is still a dynast. I we had a good king in the past, like say an Akbar or an Ashoka (this is not to imply that Rahul baba is remotely as great as them), he was still a king, not not a democratically elected leader. The feedback from Punjab Youth Congress elections is that still the key people who got elected were sons and daughters of Congress leaders! You see, genuine democratization for a dynast means giving up power, and that doesnt come easily to either a dynast or the congress party. The most atrocious thing is that these so-called young leaders of the Congress (like Jrotiraditya Scindia and Sachin Pilot) have already started calling the dynast “Rahul Ji”. You see, if you want to grow in the Congress, you have to leave your backbone hanging on the door when you enter. Why cant the youth of India see this.
The kind of leader the BJP needs can only be found by a genuine nation-wide election amongst all BJP members, where people who think that qualify under the yardstick laid down can volunteer to stand. My vote, in almost an intuitive remark is for a young leader from the Northeast who is already in BJP. We need a breath of fresh air in here!

Leadership & Ideology does not matter.
People(voters) have become very smart now.
Question now is - what can you offer me for my vote?
JASWANT SINGH’S REACTION TO BJP LOSS
The rift in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the wake of its poll debacle has worsened. Amid the debate within the party on whether it should dump its aggressive ideology, senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh raised the banner of protest against the new appointments in the BJP.
At a meeting of the BJP’s core group on Wednesday, Jaswant surprised everyone by questioning L.K. Advani’s post-poll decisions, alluding particularly to his continuation in office and the appointment of Arun Jaitley as Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.
A day after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had praised Jaitley’s qualities as parliamentarian in the Rajya Sabha, Jaswant asked, “Where’s the link between parinam (results) and puraskar (rewards)? Where’s the introspection?”
He also drew attention of other BJP leaders to the way the party had responded to the defeat in 2004 and in 2009. “What did we do in 2004 and now? Have we fixed the responsibility?”
Taken aback by his outburst, Advani asked Jaswant to take back a note he had circulated to core group members, saying all issues would be addressed.
Jaswant — like other BJP leaders including Murli Manohar Joshi, Yashwant Sinha and Arun Shourie – is upset Advani hasn’t quit and favours Jaitley at their cost – despite the 2009 outcome and was tipped to be the next BJP president too, according to BJP sources.
BJP chief Rajnath Singh said these issues would be taken up at a brainstorming session – though not necessarily at the party’s national executive meet on June 20 and 21.
While Jaitley kept his cool to Jaswant’s attack, Venkaiah Naidu said later, “We advise everyone to keep their views within the party forum.”
Jaswant told a TV channel later that he was not hankering after any post but a successor to Advani had to be “evolved.” He also said the BJP lacked clarity on Hindutva.
Echoing Joshi and Sinha, he was upset that, Jaitley though being the chief strategist who oversaw the BJP’s botched-up campaign, was picked by Advani for the post of Leader of Opposition, party sources said.
Soon after the results, Joshi and Sinha had said the BJP’s campaign did not reach the masses. BJP leader Pyarelal Khandelwal had written to Rajnath Singh, questioning the decision to authorise Advani to make fresh appointments.
Jaswant had held this post (that entails perks of a Cabinet Minister) till his election to the Lok Sabha from Darjeeling. It was Advani who had asked Jaswant to contest the polls. He thought he would become the successor if Advani quit.
“Now, he is only an MP and has to surrender even his room in Parliament. He is upset Jaitley is walking away with the post and is being talked about as the next BJP chief,” said a BJP functionary, requesting anonymity, as he is not authorised to address the media.
On Tuesday, at the MPs’ meet, Shourie had asked why Jaitley and functionaries like Sudheendra Kulkarni were penning newspaper articles on the defeat when they had to discuss it within the party. Agreeing with him, Rajnath Singh remarked, “Howsoever senior the leader may be, he should raise it in the party forum only.”
In his article, Jaitley had called for a modernist approach by the BJP for its revival, observing that shrillness doesn’t pay.
JASWANT SINGH ON HINDUTVA
Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jaswant Singh has called for making it a “current party” and admitted that it had failed to effectively convey its message to the masses, leading to its election debacle.
“There is a need for ideological distillation of thought. The BJP has to be a current party. It can’t be a party of yesterday. I think there’s lack of clarity on what Hindutva means,” the former central minister told the NDTV news channel in an interview Wednesday.
“We had to reflect what we are trying to address ourselves to come back to the issue that the party must be current, that it addresses today as well as tomorrow and doesn’t continue to be living in yesterday,” he said, reflecting on the Lok Sabha election results.
Asked if the BJP was “living in yesterday”, the newly-elected Lok Sabha MP said: “Perhaps people didn’t perceive but we didn’t succeed effectively in conveying what we were trying to do. Failure in conveying (our) message… ended up with diminished electoral support.”
Anish, I was expecting people to spew venom on me for proposing Rahul G, instead I got a nice feedback from you, I appreciate your objective comments.
First, I am neither a congress supporter nor a BJP hater. I pity BJP for having painted itself into the corner.
One my good friends, is a RSS member, who also participated in “kar seva”. Before the Election Day he asked, why I wouldn’t vote for BJP, I told exactly all these things that are being written by Swapan, Khulkerni et al.
One should analyze why BJP grew to what it’s today In the 1990s, lack of good education/employment opportunities and other scarce resources (essentials) heightened the tension between communities, castes and even among states. BJP came in and it’s ideology appealed to the people and not only that the hostile neighboring countries, Pakistan-Kashmir dispute, western countries denigrating attitude towards India added fuel to the hindu-pride.
But today after 2 decades of liberalization and development, where are those BJP supporters? there is opportunity (though not plenty) for even the lesser educated. The western countries look at India as intellectual capital, in a sense India’s pride has been restored, there are opportunities in education, employment (thanks to IT, textile etc), Pakistan is in shambles, Kashmir looks like resolved.
Imagine, the youth was happy with katara Bajaj in the 1990s but today he is not contend with Honda 1000. Youth traveled in rickety buses but today travel in A/C bus or car. How can BJP appeal with cow dung and urine. Dose the BJP has a person who can appeal to not only the youth to those who were part of kar seva? Today my friend is a sober man who wants peaceful quality life.
The very issues the BJP ideology built upon are either resolved or no longer relevant. People aspire for more and want to live in peace not in hatred. People want to bury the past not avenge. Simply put article 370, uniform civil code, tradition, hatred will not provide roti/kapda/makan. People want quality life.
So, to conclude, hindutva is fine but not hatred, tradition and history are fine but let it be in back of our minds not bring it on to streets. BJP should offer a viable alternative by appealing to the poor/middle class needs. Need for roti-kapda-makan will never change but the quality will.
Dear Siva,
Its a shame that you are writing articles after after articles and not being able to see India anywhere from near or far.
You guys are blank when it comes to apparent luxury, false pride, 4 times meal and a pesi and probaly Mcdonald burger. Thats the situation and amidst N number of confusion you people choose the most easiest path.
Mind you Issues of modern India are very much prevalent. Questions facing our economy and internal security are very much there. Long pending issues for social justice to all is not leaving any one of us till now. How may issues or questions would you like to know or talk about?
Horrible writing by you - says BJP is issuless now.. I mean are you guys mad? sad? or ignorant about issues.. what are you.. whats the value system. Simple thing to know about issues. Dont be mindless about the census data.. Go and read man.. What have we achieved since ages after independence. Its like 105 growth a year gets neutralised or written off altogether by a more than 10% slide in all other aspects. Whats net result.. who is benifitting out of all these? Is it your Rahul, Sonia, Priyanka.. who is that?
This country requires a mass sensitisation exercise. Youth aspiring for Honda 10000… crap.. thats the youth child of people who have amassed huge money yet. Go and observe in places across India.. 40% youth below the age of 15 are dying for food,shelter.. and Railway patris are their homes. Lack of education, poverty, growing fiscal deficit, huge balance of payment situation, gross corruption, unethical administration, absence of reforms.. what else and what not…
I have read 1000s of articles and writing like yours which are so mindless about Indian value system and its historical existence but sound good for the POP and MOM youth culture. Thats the face of congress…
BJP can and must try harder and harder to bring reforms to this country and culture.
Jai Hind.
Jaswant questions BJP leadership:
NEW DELHI: Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jaswant Singh has called for making it a “current party” and admitted that it had failed to
effectively convey its message to the masses, leading to its election debacle.
“There is a need for ideological distillation of thought. The BJP has to be a current party. It can’t be a party of yesterday. I think there’s lack of clarity on what Hindutva means,” the former central minister told a news channel in an interview on Wednesday.
In a two-page letter written in Hindi, which was circulated at a meeting of senior BJP leaders, Jaswant Singh has questioned the party’s new leadership structure.
“What did we do in 2004 and now? Have we fixed responsibility?”, asked the former central minister. BJP leader Avani asked Jaswant Singh to take back the letter, saying all issues would be addressed.
At a meeting of senior BJP leaders on Monday, the issue of fixing responsibility and carrying out a thorough post-mortem was raised forcefully by former minister Arun Shourie who pointed out that BJP’s scale of defeat could not be wished away. It presented some tough and searching questions that needed answers if the BJP was to chart its future course. Leader of Opposition L K Advani supported Shourie’s demand.
BJP president Rajnath Singh, who has shown no appetite for any sort of soul searching, said a “samiksha (assessment)” could be carried out if necessary. When it was argued that this could hardly be avoidable, he said that a small committee of three had been tasked to speak to state units and gather inputs on what had gone wrong. He is understood to have justified the secrecy as being necessary to thwart factional viewpoints.
This led to the obvious counter-point that if leaders did not know who comprised this committee how could they offer any views to begin with. Some leaders like Arun Jaitley, Yashwant Sinha and Sudheendra Kulkarni had written or spoken of what they felt to be the factors that went against the BJP but this did not mean that nothing more was required. It was pointed out that a report on the loss in Rajasthan’s assembly poll last year had been commissioned but nothing was heard of it. State unit of Uttar Pradesh has not bothered to go into the reasons of its continuing slide.
Advani, in discussions with party colleagues after the poll result, had backed suggestions that a thorough de-construction of the campaign and the reasons for its failure needed to be gone through. But so far, the official faction has shown no interest in doing so while there are strong suggestions Singh may want to stay on as party chief.
It was also argued that asking state units for their views was hardly useful beyond a point as the campaign was run from national headquarters of the party which also funded it. The introspection needed to be carried out by the central party to examine various factors — why BJP did not connect with the youth, lost in urban centres or came across as stentorian and divisive.
Sources said such a discussion would have an important bearing on how BJP moved ahead but Singh had apparently, at an earlier meeting, offered a fairly simplistic explanation for the defeat. He said the BJP’s 2004 tally was 138 and it expected 22 more seats to take it to 160. But the opposite had happened and BJP slid to 116. He also argued that party needed to move ahead and focus on coming challenges, for instance Maharashtra polls.
The BJP’s ostrich-like attitude at a time when CPM and even regional outfits like RJD were preparing to introspect in depth has surprised some of its leaders. They point out that the situation was more dire than in 2004 when it was felt that UPA was an unstable structure. Even then there had been no real stock-taking with the then leadership throwing up red herrings like “back to basics” at its meeting in Mumbai.
Sukhvinder, I’m saying exactly what your are saying. Only difference is that I say there are half a billion people who want basic roti-kapda-makan not article 370.
About youth, I said the changes in aspiration. I didn’t mean that BJP should appeal to those rich sons (but that’s what it did when it was in power). Look around, in any Indian metro, you will notice the changes. The aspiration is far higher among the people (less than 50 age) than it was in the 1990s.
what is the use that our fore fathers lived in a great tradition, what’s wrong with today’s ?
What value system, when Rahul Mahajan went high on drugs, BJP was silent, thank god that guy left BJP else he would have been the youth icon of BJP!! compare Rahul G vs Rahul M !!
You talk about Macdonald but that’s what BJP did when it was in power. It had a clear capitalistic agenda. BJP went full throttle on liberalization?
What you stand for? BJP with tradition and value system or BJP with capitalism? You decide!!
some point programme for improvment for BJP for the upcoming assembly lections-
1.Bring in new and dynamic faces in the national forum.let thm be educated and young..i myself want to serve BJP despite my hectic schedule but i dont see any movement of BJP’s rcruitment drive in any of my Kandiviili(west)-charkop area in mumbai.
2.this time in my cosnitituency i cudnt see Mr Ram Naik moving around before elctions as i had seen for sanjay Nirupam.
3.Bring in hard workers.
4.Have a good manifesto and market the manifesto.
5.get out of the anti muslim mode..and involve Muslims into the party have a recruitment drive there.
6.Bring in Nationalistic approach to everything u do…rising above caste, creed and religion.
7.no more Mouth mongering in Public…all opinions shud be kept within the party circle.
8.Get rid of Grey haired people.
9.Let the party be alays visible in front of the public eyes…like blood donation camp, organising Ram lila, organising mass diwali, organise xmas, organise Id.
10.Create ur own cadre base in AP,west bengal,Kerala,TN,Rajasthan,Jammu and kashmir,UP,North east,Haryana,Punjab,Orissa.
11.It doesnt mean u break away with ur old allies.
12.apprciate when the ruling party does well(go with the public mood)…but criticise vehemently with full media glare(go with public mood).
13.have media friendly, smart people who can handle media.it wud be nice if u have a smart dynamic well spoken and smiling male face or better have a female face..but not old.
14.Let more female join ur party…u dont have any female participation in BJP.if neccesary organise camps for them.
15.Let Narendra Modi be the face of BJP but not a prime Ministerial candidate and let him speak about national issues more vehemently..we need suh people in the party as well.
16.Let the prime minister candidate be decided later on maybe 1 year before the general elections.
@ Prasanta Chatterjee
Good points. But point # 8 and point # 15 are conflicting.
My dear friend SJ…well no its not actualy.
in India many people percieve Narendra Modi as dynamicism and an aggresive speaker..whih we need as well.
he talks sense and doesnt leave any stone unturned to attack the opposition.
we need young people and also dynamic people…so be it.
“we need young people and also dynamic people…so be it.”
Then why get rid of grey haired people.. thats what your point # 8 says..
It is very important for BJP to do a very indepth analysis of why they lost and also why they won!!
study what is the profile of constituency where elections were lost and also where they won.
then analyse why they won and which target group got impressed from the constituency where they won and then extrapolate the same target voters accross all india.
dont try to form a category of voters on ur own…but see who already are ur target voters then see who were the voters who voted for the winning political party…then study what is/was their aspiration and what is that they are looking at…and then see which all the points u can match and then form a set of common agenda for the whole india.
Let it tak 6 months to do this analysis no poblem…but u must do it…and u shud o it.
lets us all BJP”ians” regroup, reorganise and fight back….we will never ever let BJP loose out.
Jai Hind!!
@ PRASANTA CHATTERJEE
I think people in Gujarat will not be too happy to give modi for national politics.. otherwise how can you explain this situation, that even though bjp won previous 2 state assembly elections by 2/3rd majority, its tally in lok sabha seats is decreasing.. in 1999 bjp had 23 out of 26 seats in gujarat.. in 2004, it reduced to 14, and in 2009 it increase by only 1 seat, but overall vote percentage for bjp dropped in 2009… what can be the reason for this..
SJ why don’t you keep your trap shut. Your comments against Prasanta Chatterjee’s comments make no sense. Prasanta Chatterjee makes complete sense while you are writing like a halfwit.
Debate is good, but the problem is when debate becomes cacophony and leaders use media to vent out their anger. Joshi, Jaswant Singh etc. should keep the debate inside rather than washing dirty linen in public.
Media and Congress is having fun and they are aiding them in such actions. I think Arun Jaitley and Sudendraa Kulkarni’s election assessment should have come later after party had gone through the effort of analyzing and debating the issues. If every leader starts giving assessment there will be confusion and that’s the last thing BJP needs now.
Once the party has found the causes, debate should happen the views of majority should be taken in account.
Our national elections are sum total of 543 local election, and hence no one can generalize. BJP leaders need to analyze every constituency where they lost and they thought they will win.
Though I think Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj choices for leadership are good as they are young (in 50s), experienced, articulate, but I agree BJP still should have done an election by MPs to choose their leaders in LS and RS, that would have been best.
Lastly Maharashtra assembly elections are coming we need to work on those also and too much delay of election analysis will demoralize party workers and supported and give a clean sweep to Congress. BJP-SS has to handle MNS nuisances.
Regards,
S.Chatterjee
RJ ji, if you have completed your personal attacks, may i humbly submit that i do not want to contest your opinion about me… now may i humbly as you a question?? can you please stick to the topic and explain your position rather than attacking individuals.. dhanyavaad
@siva
IT seems you are saying that 370, UCC and Ram mandir does not help common man.
I ish to delve more into it.
370 - Now if you give Kashmir special status, then you may want to recolled how SP mukherjee died in Kashmir, just for agitating against the rule of possessing a ID card of india to enter Kashmir. He entered kashmir without an INdian ID card. He also dies in Kashmir under mysterious circumstances. He contracted an infection. He told the doctors that he was allergic to penicillin.Still the Kashmiri doctors administered it. He eventually dies. Nehru , did not rake this issue and find out the truth. He wanted to have cordial reltionship with the kashmiris. {For what? Was he waiting to marry some muslim also so that Kashmiri’s will be pleased}
Now special status sucks. Whay should it be given? According to the signed accession instrument, the princely state is also a mere state. Jsut because it was something else earlier, does not make it something more in the newer setup right? Then why two constitution? two flags and two PMs? And SP mukherjee was the first to voice agsint this shit paradigm.
Today non kashmiris cannot buy land in kashmir whereas vice-versa is possible.
A kashmiri muslim if marries a non-kashmirir loses her citizenship of Kashmir. {What the &uck? There is only one citizenship and that is of hindustan. Where does this shit come from?}
COnstitution of india recognises jains, buddhists, sikhs, chirstians and muslims as minority. Due to special status , kashmir retains minority status for muslims even though its muslim population is more than 50% . Can you digest this crap?
Now how will an outside state person feel about himself if such nonsenses are allowed?
It is very much imperative that all children of a couple are treated equally. A disabled child maybe shown greater love, not at the cost of other children.
Hence for common man, me, roti kapda makan can be got in many way. Hardwork.day loabour.inteleectual greatness.any job can get roti kapda makan. Equality ? only 370 is the culprit. common man’s kid should not be looked down by a muslim kid comin from Kashmir. Please understand that.
UCC
How does this hurts common man who only wants to eat roti, live a life with good kapda and sleep always in a makan you may ask.
Hindu’s are consitutionally allowed to have only one wife. Muslim 4.
Hindus family panning after 2 kid. Muslims family palanning after 2 kid, per wife = 8 kids
while i contrbute 2 entities to fight for the resources commonly available, a muslim contributes 8 entities. his probability is 4 times more.
Thats worries me, a common man.
While my issues are sorted out with one rule, A muslim gets a different rule …
My temple donation goes to state treasury. His mosque money goes to waqf board.
State treasury spends on all schemes benefited to all people including muslims.
Waqf board spends only, repeat only, on muslim needs, muslim universities, etc etc.
Why? Does my hard earned money look like a joke then?
State treasury pays for Haj pilgrimage. Thats commom man money. Why cant the waqf bord provide for Haj? Or will the waqf board provide for amarnath pilgrimage?
We know what happened for amarnathji shirne board land allocation. Even a temporary transfer of land in Kashmir brought dowsn a government. It hurst the hindu pride as a common man.
Madrassa education is good enough like CBSE. What sort of a crap is this statement from chidambaram? Except allah, haj, ramdam, dua, muhammad, alisha, child marraige, allah is right, allah is always right, allah and his prophet is alway right, exactly what else is taught in madrassaa? and how can it help in a givernment office hjob in tallying company accounts???
Minority reservation in private jobs. This is the height of comedy. I tell you.I am in IT field. Some of my team mates are muslims. Some muslims just vanish during their prayer times and workd gets lagged. now in a givernment job, if these guys vanish citing their religious obligations , who other than common man like me will complete the task. And it worries me. I would like to finish my work and go home and spend time with my family. Not ste in for someone who busily went to talk with allah not knowing his responsibilities….
It concerns common man more.
Ram mandir.
This stuff has been told many times.one more time.
Ram mandir is in india.Ayodhya. Not in mecca. period. It does concern the common man.
Siva,
do you know the pain of losing a meritorious ceat in CECRI B.Tech electro chemistry to a lower mark scored, reservation based muslim ?
you may not.
UCC will stop it
Common man and BJP is fighting so that all of us be in india to see our parents gro old and see our children grow from their young age. NOt so that we have to go into some other country in search of jobs…..
Please, stop the crap and try to help hindus, in whom, many dont have roti kapda and makan.
for hindus, today there is not government to help, and only people like you who talk like Saints…not knowing what nonsense they are taking
Vande mataram
Truly said. BJP needs a dynamic young leader who can change party fortunes. and India needs a revived BJP ruling from 2014 or else she will fall back to the 1970s.
We need an Uniform Civil Code to make ourself truly modern. we need a lot of equality, a lot of looking back to our heritage, we need a government which has India first policy… and hence we need BJP.
My personal opinion is Mr. Arun Jaitley is the man BJP needs now.
He is the man who can make Mr.Inheritor run for his money…
We hope things go good for BJP and we believe Sh.Advani knows it best…
India needs a Uniform Civil Code ( UCC ) to remove the inequality among all its citizens. Muslims are totally misuing the seperate legal system especially the Muslim law board and dumping their wifes and marrying again or maintaining multiple wifes and bringing totally irresponsible children who are either begging or becoming terrorists or joining madrasas. If their fathers can’t bring their children responsibly there is no need for them to maintain multiple wifes and producing irrersponsible kids . This kind of minority appeasement should stop. Unfortunately all the political parties are thinking of their own survival instead of thinking the future of the country.
Regarding the leader, who ever can inspire and lead can take that role.
This website is not a congress supporters website and there is no need to support Rahul Gandhi on this website.
Is kashmir in India or in Pakistan to not let people of India go and live there ?. This is the utmost hypocrisy of Indian government giving special provision for Kashmir and not letting the people of India to go there and live.
Regarding the Ram Mandir, a thorough scientific investigation might help find the truth about what was there beneath the Masjid. However, the political parties aren’t interested in a solution as it will not help them in any way in getting a political gain out of it. Finding the truth is not going to take a much time.
one thing is clear . bjp doesn’t have a leadership.
the problem is not todays creation. the problem goes back to the days of vajpayeejee and to that extent it is a failure of vajpayeeji. i know it will be difficult to put any thing negative about vajpayeeji,in fact i also don’t like to put it straight but nevertheless it is like that.
during the period NDA had power as well as after that BJP was too busy in keeping itself in power in center and states in short term rather than
thinking about the future leadership, policies, purpose and base of the party as opposed to Sonias congress which had done everything with a single minded objective : to groom rahul as a future leader.
BJP appears now as nothing more than floating debris and vultures flying above for a final feast.
It can only get out if it succeeds to :
1. define its purpose.
among the possible alternatives:
a)only as an alternative to congress with the sole motive to snatch power whenever and wherever possible(just it seems to be becoming now)
b)become an ideological party with zero tolerance for corruption, dynastism (as it had been pre-NDA)
2. decide its leader.
if the current leadership cannot do either it is high time that the so called “core group” should retire from politics and do something drastic to generate a entire set of new leader. if this is also not possible then BJP should disband itself.
Many people are offering their life support to BJP and the BJP central leadership seems to ingore this life support or live in denial. As long as the central leadership doesn’t do sincere introspection on what went wrong and take corrective steps, they are heading for another disaster. Enough warning signs are posted every where for them and they still ignore them and blindly walk around. I haven’t seen a single positive news coverage on the BJP doing any kind of introspection.
Just watching Sonia madam speak about religious fundamentalism and pointing that BJP is promoting the religious fundamentalism irritates me. Why is BJP so lame in taking on Sonia Madam. Is sonia a demigod or she the queen to rule India forever ?.
Siva please understand the importance of UCC ( uniform civil code), removal of article 370 before you make your comments. Don’t you realize how important is UCC in a vastly populated India ?. The population explosion is going to cause all sorts of problem in next 20-30 years. Congress government has taken cosmetic steps to make the problem didn’t exist. Live in W.B , Kerala and the old city of Hyderabad or may be in Kashmir you will realize the importance of Uniform Civil Code.
As far as the article 370 is concerned why should Indians have any problem going and living in India if you claim that Kashmir is an integral part of India. Only in India you will see this kind of lame excuse. I
@siva and others,
I would firmly point out that the lacklusture attitude of congres sparty to serious issues facing our nation is the key to their success in election. As someone has mentioned in today’s article congress govt in its last tenure would have spent around a whopping 6 lakh crores on populist measures for making its good will campaign. Unfortunely no other party including BJP could have sp[ent that much money because they are not in power and the country’s administration including all senior corrupt officials are so glued to the unethical practices of the congress party over many many years that they cant wish BJP like p[arty to come to p[ower and screw thier nuts and bolt very tightly.
UCC and other measures are a must if our country ever wants to aspire for the growth seen in developed countries.
Playing minority card and adapting other populist measures to win elections cant be taken up by BJP.
I am clueless as to why there are no serious accounting standads being followed to neasure the budgeted vs actual expenditure in a sp[ecific period. Why is RBI or any any serious regulator in this country not asking the congress govt about the rational behind the guge expendituire which is not planned. Whats the justification for having a huge trade and balance of p[ayment situation while spending mindlessly on inefficent economic policies?
Congress govt and pa[rty is a thief and will remain the thief unless and until we the educated mass awake and acknoledge whats good or bad for the country. Vote bank p[olitics has now been synonymous with congress party.
Lets arise , awake and stop not until this nonsense people learn a lesson.
To those who want UCC and kashmir,
BJP contested election on these and what’s the result? I agree UCC is good but now is not the time to sell. you cannot sell what people do not want to buy. if you still try then that is called “living in denial”.
People want their basic needs to be filled first then the need for security, society and etc. I hope many of the readers know about Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs (http://www.netmba.com/mgmt/ob/motivation/maslow/), all you guys talk about UCC are at the top of the pyramid. I’m talking about people living at the bottom of the pyramid. For them roti is more important than UCC.
DOn’t blame Cong for vote bank politics, BJP too tried it’s hand and succeeded.
Look at BJP where it succeded, it’s not UCC that got the votes.
Whether it’s BJP or Cong, what sells is what people want to buy. You need to package and sell your ideas and don’t blame people if they do not want to buy your ideas.
for BJP, UCC can be long term goal but you need to break the long term into short term goals and work on it.
Lastly, I’m now convinced that people like you and NRIs who fund BJP will never allow BJP to play right kind of politics. Esp the NRIs who are at the top of the pyramid with their bloated ego/self-esteem, drives them to talk about hindu pride, hatred and don’t care about people of India at the bottom of the pyramid.
And all you guys, get the shit (cow dung and urine) out your mind and think with you mind and with your heart.
Correction to above..
And all you guys, get the shit (cow dung and urine) out your mind and think with your mind and not with your heart.
siva, don’t tell me that you don’t shit in the bathroom. we all do, so there’s nothing to be ashamed of.
maybe you just need to get the shit out of your mouth and keyboard because this sweeping ‘cow dung and urine’ generalization made by you about BJP supporters conveys sheer ignorance & arrogance on your part.
i am tempted to use some colorful descriptions for you but i rather restrain myself.
nothing for any of us to be ashamed of in terms of ‘cow dung and urine’. it’s a natural process and a part & parcel of life.
coolio.. hmm.. your comments well taken and no generalization of course, there may be one section of BJP, the VHP brigade. “Shit” is used in figurative sense and no offense intended
Mr Siva,
Why cant grand and great grand sons[daughters]of Mahathma Ghandhi,L B Shashtri,Narasimha rao[to name a few]fit the bill?.
@Siva,
You are a sold out fellow. Better stop making nonsense comments, because for you guys who are addicted to the dirty filthiest corrupt blood of congress can think of only exploitative sentencese. Looks like your Grandfathers and all ancestors have been hugely benifiting from the p[ast 62 years. Go and sweep[ in their houses. Dont spit in this forum. We know how to make people like you to be educated on basics and before blogging anywhere.
U crap - when lot many of us are making the comment that the whole world knows again that India is the poorest country sofar because of the sadist attitude of congress, the most hateful vote bank p[olitics. Roti kapda and makan cant be assured by congress as it is been resp[onsible for the rising p[overty all around.
When you avoid this discussion, you want to raise about UCC and when u get a convincing rep[ly on that you want to make cowdung the issue. I am sure you are not a Hindu. Else you would have known the essence of hindu religion and the root.
Its not mandatory that u be a Hindu to be a civilized fellow. Infact all your congress leaders are like that. You guys are uncivilised human beings - trying and trying hard to denigrate the value of this nation. Go back and write somewhere else.
and you talk about buying and selling. Maslow’s theory. From your writing I feel you are just writing nonsense.
What do you know about the buyers and sellere market? And do you know that there is something called monopoly and oligopoly markets ?
Go and read that thoroughly.
Your congress has been ruling and selling things like a monopolist by taking advantage of the inefficiencies of the market, the uneducated buyers(created by itself)(the vote bazar) and has been p[aying heavy prices to the regulators of the market(you know those institutions).
If BJP wants to sell rice at 2Rs a kilo, congress will sell the excequre but will promise to sell rice at no price. Thats even colluding with friends like Lalu,Amar and who not…
Now understood economics.. You poor mentality ..
Mr Siva,
Probably they may not fit the bill because they have valid digrees and remember their qualifications unlike Rahul.I wanted to ignore your comments, but I feel glorifing Rahul and Sonia[Vajapai gave too much respect to her]is an insult to the calibre of 100 crore Indians.
He is not siva. He is a liar hiding behind siva. Dont spoil the value attached to the name Siva.
Congress is good at playing dirty politics. They want to take credit for the Slum dog millionare getting the oscar award. They demigod Sonia will host slumdog child actor Rubina and take the credit of helping the minority community. They will appoint sachar commission and will try to get the credit for helping the minorities. They will give the Madrassas the standard of CBS status. They will appoint commissions to prove that the Godhra train accident is occured by a electric failure to protect minorities from the wrath of the majorities. They will inaugurate airports just before the elections to get the credit of good governance. They will give 70,000 crore farm loan to get the farmers votes. They will pay the Media money to paint BJP a communal party and congress the only party to have the privilege to rule the country.
BJP hasn’t done all these things and cannot do these things and that is why it lost. Congress plays dirty tactics like what Aurangazeb and Islamic kings did to destroy and kill the Hindu kings and the Hindu Kingdom.
BJP needs to redifine its strategy to take congress effectively. Strategy is clearly missing in BJP compaign. Inner fighting should stop.
Hinduism is not cow dung and urine. Siva you are an Islamist for sure taking the name of Hindu person. This kind of talk is only spoken among the Mullah and Maulvi brainwashed followers.
India is a country where, for the most part, Congress has the default vote– Please explain!
i think Navjot Siddhu should be the leader of BJP
He is youn, has lots of guts, excellent oration skills, and can take on the opposition
Why do people still take oratorial skills as a great asset.. if anythng the last elections proved that people are fed up of blabberers… bjp is full of good orators right from advani to modi to sidhu and everyone.. look at congress.. hardly anyone knows to speak.. mms, rahul, sonia.. all dull and stupid speakers..
