BJP May Have Lost the Battle but Certainly Not the War
by Sushil Harlalka
Let this message sink deep down in the cadres of the party. It is very difficult to be brave and it is easy to submit. Let the cadres choose.I am sure they will not disappoint.
Now let us talk about the dreaded results very briefly. In my opinion, the very broad message from the results are as under:-
1. The electorate does not want bickering and negative remarks. Talk of what you have to offer in convincing manner and leave it at that;
2. The youth are the future. Involve more young people, who can think like the young—-their aspirations,their expectations and then let the young do the talking;
3. Allies`are like Albatrosses. They are not reliable and dependable, at least not all of them. They sometimes do more damage than they actually help. It would be better to have confidence in ourselves & do away with them barring a few who are not one man parties;
4. Why is there no anti incumbency in States like Bihar Delhi, Gujarat, etc. The message is loud and clear. Do work and you don’t need to say anything else. ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS. I think this should be our mantra.This should be our entire concentration.
I would like to elaborate and emphasise only on this point. DO WORK IN YOUR AREAS AND YOU ARE BOUND TO GET THE FRUITS.Your work will itself do the needful when you want it to. The electorate can see and will not forget what is seen by them. At the end of the day, when it really comes down to the nitty gritty, what the voter is ultimately going to see is what has he/she got or will get by his/her choice. And if you have been visible all the time– at his time of need– there will be no need to say anything else. No need`to spend monies on costly ads, costly campaignings, costly propaganda. No need of mud slinging and slandering. All this may sound a bit too idealistic. But if you really think about it, our answer is right in there;
5. Muslims are a strength which can no more be antagonised at the same time not wooed either. The right approach to them is very essential. This needs very delicate and deft handling and a highly skilled and chisseled almost clinical ‘operation’.If a detailed study is done of the voting pattern it will amply show that Muslims are no more a minority and even less Voters who can be neglected.
Why BJP
by Sushil Harlalka
This is the pulse of the urban population. This is the pulse of the Voters which the BJP is trying to and hoping to bring to the POLLING BOOTH. I AM ECHOING THEIR RESERVATIONS. Credit must be given where it is due. It is true that India owes its Economic Strength today to the Bold initiative of the Narsimha Rao Govt. The liberalisation started by him and the resultant tightening of the Indian Industry, improving its efficiency and today being a force to reckon with in International Competetiveness.
The Telecommunication Revolution was ushered by Rajiv Gandhi. Today we owe the widespread network of STD to him, with even the remotest village connected not only by land line but also by the Mobile Phone network.
Anything else really standing out? Anything which can be called revolutionary? This is the outstanding work which has been done in the 50 odd years of Power and what Power.Look at the resource rich states of BIHAR & U.P., which were under their rule for decades. They could have been countries like Saudi and Dubai, with their vast Natural Resources. Today they are amongst the worst states of the country. People below the Poverty Line are mostly from these States. There was a time when these States were their bastions. Today their strength is reduced to single digits. This is the strength of Democracy. There is no dearth of this list if one were to start wrirting.
Why go so far. The number of people below the Poverty Line has in fact increased in the last Five Years, when the country is boasting of Highest GDP growth rates.The rich have become richer and the poor poorer. The farmer suicide rate is the highest ever.
Forget all this. What is the use of all this if we are not even sure we are going to come back home safe, if our dear ones are going to be safe and secure wherevever they are. SECURITY—- THIS IS BY FAR THE BIGGEST AND LARGEST FAILURE OF THE GOVT.Just compare the number of Terrorist attacks in the period of 1998 to 2004 and the period 2004 to 2008. You will have the answer.
Now compare the work of BJP in just one term. one term and that too a largely truncated term as illustrtated in my previous article.I am not claiming nor assuring the citizens or promising any magic by the BJP. All that I am trying to convey is that just give them another chance and if a chance is to be given let it be given with good measure not dependent on Crutches, not at the mercy of opportunists, not albatrosses. That is all I am wanting to convey to the electorate. Just pause, reflect, think coolly, come to the Polling Booth and vote for a CHANGE, don’t just stay away. Give change a chance just this once. At least it certainly won’t be as bad. Then why not give a chance. That’s why BJP. More later.
It’s Never Too Late
by Sushil Harlalka
NDA assumed Power in the real sense (i.e for a full term) only from 1998 to 2004. Is this short period enough to undo the deep rooted misdoings of previous successive Governments?It is not.And then again even this short period was further shortened by its Aliies for their Petty gains and NDA could really devote its energy and vision to productive work only in the last 2 years. This short period is grossly insufficient even to scrape out the muck leave aside weed it out. It was most unfortunate for our country that NDA was not given the opportunity to carry on its work for another term in continuation, to show its true mettle and to permanently put the country on Growth Path which process was just initiated by the Vajpayee Govt and bore fruit for UPA. That is why I say— Its Never too late— Bring NDA back to Power and give it the opportunity which it deserves to prove itself. Give it an effective mandate free from opportunist local parties to deliver without compromises, to finish its unfinished Agenda. READ ON
Soon after assuming Power, Mr. Vajpayee chose to go for the NUCLEAR TESTS at Pokhran, knowing fully well what was at stake. The economy being where it was and Sanctions of the so called Developed World to follow. Was it necessary for him to do this as soon as he took over? He had the guts, the Political Will and the wisdom to do it, despite all apprehensions.He still did it. He must have thought— DO THE MOST DIFFICULT THINGS FIRST—.
He did it and the whole world closed upon us. Can we forget the disastrous effect on the Economy post Sanctions? And where are we now. Our present Nuclear Power is a legacy of this brave effort.
During these tumultous periods, NDA got no help from its Allies, thanks to a coalition set up. On the contrary some of is allies left no stone unturned, threatening to pull the plug at the slightest incidence for petty benefits.
Move further— A momentous occasion in History– like the friendship between INDIA and PAKISTAN, which was so well orchestrated by Mr. Vajpayee, what could have turned the history of 2 warring netghbours for all time— was sabotaged and KARGIL happened. Here again true leadership was at the fore, true grit was at display.
With all thase major situations to contend with during the first 3 years of its Govt. could NDA get any time to really devote itself to real work for its people, real core work for which it had formed the Govt? It was first only trying finding its feet and finally when it did, preciou 3 years had gone by. Never mind.
Despite all these upheavals and tumultous situations, NDA could do real work only for 2 years. And what they did. Read on:-
1) Earned the respect of the entire International Community for its handling of the Economy post Sanctions and not only come out of it but end it with a robust 5.8% growth, which was only carried forward by the present Govt.
2) Earned great admiration for its restraint and patience in dealing with a hostile nation, widely acknowledged by the entire World during the Kargil War;
3) A complete 180 degree differnce in the approach of the International Community towards not only India but the entire Indian Community and thw Indian Diaspora, resulting in Brand India being a Brand to reckon with. India and Indians acknowledged as an Intelligent, Honest, Sincere and Reliable Race.
Today it is these achievements of the NDA Govt. which is bearing us fruit and which agenda was left unfinished. That is why i said ITS NEVER TOO LATE. LET US DO IT THIS TIME AGAIN and vote them back to power with full strength without crutches. Jai Ho!
