About Bibek Debroy
Bibek Debroy was educated in St. Peter’s School, Shillong (1959-64); Ramakrishna Mission School, Narendrapur (1965-70); Presidency College, Kolkata (1970-73); Delhi School of Economics (1974-76); and Trinity College, Cambridge (1976-81).

He has worked as Lecturer, Kirori Mal College, Delhi (1976); Research Associate, Presidency College, Kolkata (1979-83); Associate Professor, Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune (1983-87); Professor, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi (1987-93); Consultant, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance (1994-95); Chief Consulting Economist, National Council for Applied Economic Research (1995-96); Consulting Editor, Business Standard (1995-2001); Director, Legal Adjustments and Reforms for Globalizing the Economy (LARGE) and Visiting Professor, National Law School of India University, Bangalore (1993-98); Director, Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Contemporary Studies (1997-2005); Consulting Editor, Financial Express (2001-04); Secretary General, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (2005-07); Contributing Editor, Indian Express (2007-11); Professor, International Management Institute (2007-10); and Visiting Senior Research Fellow, Institute for South Asian Studies, National University of Singapore (2008-09). He is now Professor, Centre for Policy Research, Delhi (since 2007); Visiting Honorary Senior Research Fellow, Institute for South Asian Studies, National University of Singapore (since 2009); and Contributing Editor, The Economic Times (since 2011). He has been a member of the National Commission for the Promotion of Enterprises in the Informal and Unorganized Sector (2004-05); a member of the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council (2004-10); and Chairman of the Chief Minister’s Committee for the development of Jharkhand (2010-11).
